Divan Beds

Divan Beds - Turn Living Area Into Sleeping Space

When trying to decorate the interior of the home with furnishings, you will probably run into a design issue or two.  If you are at a crossroads as to whether a bed or a sofa or couch is best for a certain area of the home or a specific room in the house, you might be closer to a solution than you think.  For a number of reasons, many people are choosing divan beds to fill the bed/sofa/couch space.

Why consider divan beds as part of your furnishing mix?  To start off with, they are ideal for many dwellings that have challenging or limited space issues.  As divan beds do not have any headboards and can be easily fit into a corner, they are ideal for rooms that call out for a hybrid bed-sofa.  Unlike the case of sofa beds or futon beds, there is no extending mechanism that ultimately requires more space.  Divan beds have mattresses as do traditional beds and are designed, in many cases, to serve as a sitting surface during social hours and act as a sleep surface during hours of slumber.

Studio apartments, for example, are perfect candidates for decorating with divan beds.  Maximize the usable space by placing your divan in a corner. Cover it with an attractive coverlet and add a mix of throw pillows and you have a functional and sizeable piece of furniture on which to congregate or from which to view your favorite TV programs.

At night, turn down the coverlet, grab your comfy stowed away feather pillow and drift off to sleep.  A firmer mattress is typically a popular choice to use on divan beds as it provides solid support for frequent sitting and will stand the test of time and continue to give you a comfortable sleeping surface.  You’ll probably want to limit the mattress size to a double as you aren’t likely to want to use up too much of your restricted space.

Divan beds are ideal for the home office that is utilized as a guest room and/or reading room.  Get your work done in peace, steal away to a quiet corner for some uninterrupted alone time, or accommodate the out-of-town visitor in style.  Use the same or similar decorative touches as you would in the studio-apartment scenario to insure that your divan bed room is given its design due.

Many families have chosen divan beds for their children’s rooms.  Multiple divan beds can be used for room sharing.  Furthermore, they provide ideal storage space beneath the mattress for toys and miscellaneous sporting equipment.

So the next time you are met with a bed/couch/sofa conundrum, why not combine the attractive with the useful and functional?   Divan beds give you that all-in-one solution.
